A few questions...

To some of you who have been following my work and development know that I have started a photoblog on tumblr (not this blogspot one) on provocative fashion since last June. It has over 700 postings to these days. It's walking a fine line between fashion (what you see in Vogue and many fashion magazines) and glamour (Maxim, FHM, borderline Playboy).

I am doing a little survey in helping me to develop new ideas. I appreciate if you can spend a little bit of your time to answer the following as comments. Answer as much as you can but no need to answer all if you don't want to. Please comment anonymously so that you can freely express as will without any reservation.

1. Are you a male or female?

2. Do you think the images on the blog feel different from anything that you have seen from the internet and magazines? And how?

3. Do you find the images offensive? And how?

4. From your own gender point of view, what would you like to see more? Or see less?

5. Answer this if you are female. If you could freely express yourself provocatively/sexually in photography, how would you describe the images?

My favorite New York-based event photographer, Nikola Tamindzic. A self-claimed taller and more mobile version of Larry Flint. Is he shooting parties? Or is he the parties? Anyone in front of his lens seem to loose all their inhibitions. Yummy and sweaty...

These photos are extracted from a more sensual series "Postcards from Belgrade". Make sure you are not at work and got an hour to spare because you will soon realize you have just gone through every photos that he shot on his site. Very addictive!

Paper and Skin

Have been crazily busy with my career transition to be a photographer/director. After last blog in September, my computer has been piling up with inspirational images that I've been collecting. Ok...back in gear and enjoy, folks!

Three different photographers on a theme called "Paper and Skin". They are Marc Phibert, Laurent Darmon and Christian Kettiger (in the right order with the photos above). These were featured in S magazine (Issue 5). Beautiful mirroring style. These remind me of Jan Saudek's work but much softer.

It's 3 in the morning. Having trouble in falling asleep. Staying in for 5 days straight in my dimly lit apartment after my second lasik surgery completely messed up my sleeping schedule. I was ordered not to open my eyes for this whole period and just to rest for speedy recovery. I think I over caught-up with my sleep and I exhausted all my audio books a couple of times. The surgery was quick-about 20 seconds this time on my left eye. My left eye always has some double vision since my first surgery last year. It's quite minor but it's my dominant eye that I shoot my pictures with. In the usual circumstance, surgeons would not perform such minor adjustment with this risk. But it's my "money-making eye" that giving me trouble in the manual focus department. Fortunately my surgeon Dr. Emil Chynn is an aspiring photographer who understood the difficulty in "switching the shooting eye". It's a nerve-wrecking gamble. Cross my fingers.

The most amazing Spanish fashion photographer Javier Vallhonrat. Remember when I first encountered his work through the Graphis Nudes book about 15 years ago. His only one photograph in the book made such a strong impact on me. Since then he became one of my all time most inspirational photographers in my life. The way that he lit the models and the environment has a language of it own. The shimmering monochromatic finish of the make-up gives a "dawn light" look. I take a wild guess that he used kino-flo or HMI with gel for the lightings.

After much thoughts on what exactly my focus in my blog's topics, I narrowed down to erotic fashion photography and everything which relates to it. Looking at my bookshelves, browsing through my site bookmarks and downloaded images, they all have a very consistent look and feel of stylized provocativeness mixed with fashion. So be it, I am going to share my collections and discoveries with you. Enjoy!

New version is kind of done!

Alright...my eyes can barely open...
New version of my site is finally up, well, kind of... Still got a few glitches but good enough for me to have some time to social again. I designed in a way that optimize for speedy updating for my photoshoots. I have spent many many months to tweak and improve my workflow. The whole reason for me getting back to my true love of photography is to avoid spending all my waking hours in front of my computer. But my yet-to-be improved workflow just kept me cross eyes every night. If I committed myself to be a photographer, I would like to work on post in lightning speed like a true pro. Even I can claim myself more a photoshop artist but "Me and my G5" is not the lifestyle that I desire. I rather shoot more beautiful girls, sexy men and sipping Queen's Park Swizzle at PDT (Shhhh.....Please don't tell!).
